Yakima may be the eleventh largest city in Washington State, but it still maintains its small-town feeling. When arriving in Yakima, you are greeted with a sign saying, “Welcome to the Palm Springs of Washington!” Less rainy than it’s Western Washington cousins, Yakima does get the heat in the summer, which gives you ample time to explore the Yakima Valley, which includes great camping and hiking, river floats, wineries, and outdoor music festivals in the summer.
